By coming into our store you will have the opportunity to have your foot measured properly by one of our highly trained sales associates.

You will also have the ability to try on multiple sizes and styles to ensure you are getting the best fit for your feet.

A large number of foot-related ailments are caused by improper or ill-fitting footwear. In-store fitting will ensure that you are presented the appropriate footwear for your particular feet.

Why should I wear proper footwear?

Most foot ailments and other chronic conditions are the result of, or worsened by, the use of improper footwear.

The correct shoe will allow for better overall function of the foot, reducing the risk of injury.

Your entire body structure is connected like the links in a chain. If your feet are improperly fitted or supported, almost any other part of your body can be adversely affected. This especially applies to the knees and lower back.

Why buy technical wear?

The skin is the body’s largest organ, and undergoes additional stress during periods of increased exertion. Your body temperature, heart rate and level of perspiration will elevate. Technical clothing is specifically designed to meet the body’s needs when under this exertion.

How does the clothing achieve this? Through the use of hydrophobic, or ‘moisture wicking’, materials. These materials allow the skin to better manage perspiration by pulling moisture away from the skin’s surface in order to evaporate more quickly. Some common examples of these materials are microfiber polyester, nylon and lycra.

What should I bring with me when I go to your store?

Just like you would bring your medical history to a new doctor, it is helpful to prepare for your visit to our store. In order to help us help you, we recommend that you that you prepare by taking the following steps:

  • If you have custom orthotics, or other inserts that are worn in the shoe, it is important that you bring them with you in order to ensure a proper fit.
  • If possible, bring in the shoes you have worn most recently. We can examine wear, and you can let us know what you liked, or didn’t like, about them.
  • We will supply a pair of socks for you when trying on your new shoes. Although many runners have a particular type/brand of sock that they prefer to wear. If you have one that you like, then bring them with you to get a more accurate feel and fit.

How long will it take to have my feet fitted properly?

Every person is unique and so is their experience in the store. Ensure you have adequate time as it may take 10 minutes, or it may take 45. What we can assure you is we will take the necessary time to fit you properly with the right shoe.

What is Pronation? Supination? Over-pronation?

Pronation itself is a term used to describe the ground contact phases of gait, from striking in the heel area through to rolling forward off your toes. A normal rate of pronation does entail some inward rolling of the foot, with pressure evenly distributed across the breadth of the foot.

Under-pronation, or supination, occurs when there is insufficient natural inward rolling of the foot, and weight is distributed too much onto the outside, or lateral, part of the foot.

Over-pronation describes an excessive inward rolling (or collapse, if you will) of the foot during the gait cycle, resulting in too much pressure on the inside, or medial, part of the foot.
